General recommendations:

  • Lightly jog for 3-5 minutes to warm and slightly loosen muscles, preparing the body for static stretching.
  • Hold each stretch listed below for 10 – 20 seconds and slowly release to starting position after holding.
  • Repeat each stretch 2 – 5 times.

Stretching the Neck:

  • Drop head backward (eyes toward the sky) and slowly roll it to left shoulder
  • Slowly roll head from left shoulder to right shoulder, maintaining eyes toward sky
  • Drop head forward (eyes toward the feet) and slowly roll it to the left shoulder
  • Slowly roll head from left shoulder to right shoulder, maintaining eyes toward feet
  • Use left hand to gently push top of head toward right shoulder (ear toward shoulder)
  • Use right hand to gently push top of head toward left shoulder (ear toward shoulder)
  • Use left hand to gently push left side of chin to right shoulder (ear toward shoulder)
  • Use right hand to gently push right side of chin to left shoulder (ear toward shoulder)
